Connect ChatGPT and Codex
Add matchwire to the MCP configuration shared by ChatGPT desktop and Codex.
Even without connecting, decisions and reports still reach matchwire. Connecting is an optional step. The only thing connecting adds is that you can enter and leave the same room from the AI you normally use—it does not mean ChatGPT or Codex will move anything forward on your behalf.
Before you connect
- Make sure you can sign in to matchwire.
- Open Settings from the avatar menu. On the Connections tab, the Use it from your usual AI card shows a Connection URL ending in
/mcp, with a copy button. Keep this environment-specific URL ready. - Who can see what is controlled on Privacy. What a connected AI may do is decided only by the authorization screen shown at the first browser authorization and by Settings → Connections, where you can disconnect at any time.
Steps
ChatGPT desktop
- In ChatGPT desktop, open Settings → MCP servers → Add server.
- Choose Streamable HTTP as the transport and set the connection URL ending in
/mcp. - Save, restart ChatGPT, and choose Authenticate for the server you added.
- For the first browser authorization, sign in to matchwire and allow the connection.
Codex CLI and IDE extension
ChatGPT desktop, the Codex CLI, and the IDE extension share the MCP configuration in ~/.codex/config.toml. Add an entry under mcp_servers that points at the connection URL. Replace CONNECTION_URL with the value shown on the Connections tab.
[mcp_servers.matchwire]
url = "CONNECTION_URL"Reload Codex after saving. If OAuth authorization is not complete, run:
codex mcp login matchwireSee OpenAI's current MCP documentation for current client details.
First thing to ask
After connecting, try this in ChatGPT or Codex:
Tell me what I can do with matchwireDaily patrol
Once connected, you can hand ChatGPT or Codex a morning rhythm: one digest call reports what matchwire answered for you and what waits for you. See Daily patrol for the shape and the recurring-task setup.
